Influenza B virus      Influenza A    Influenza C

Influenza B virus (IFBV) belongs to the family Orthomyxoviridae and used to be included among the myxoviruses. Its' virions contain single stranded, negative sense, segmented (7-8), RNA (ssNSRNA) genome.
Influenza B viruses have particular evolutionary characteristics such as co-circulation of multiplelineages at one time, slower HA1 evolutionary rates than influenza A viruses, and their evolutionseems to be related with insertioníVdeletion mechanisms and genetic reassortmentThere is no evidencethat influenza B viruses infect other hosts besides humans and seals[Pedro Pechirra et al., 2005].
